Homemade Gravy with Chicken Broth

Welcome!

In this post, I am sharing a simple recipe for homemade gravy.  While this gravy is the perfect companion for chicken, it can also be used on vegetables, baked potatoes, tots, and even French fries!

Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flout
  • 1 cup low sodium chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup light sour cream

Instructions:
  • In a small skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over Medium heat.
  • Whisk in the flour, one tablespoon at a time, until incoporated.
  • Let the mixture bubble for about 2-3 minutes, until golden.
  • Stir in the chicken broth a little at a time.
  • Cook the mixture for 5 minuntes (or until thickened).
  • Remove pan from heat.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Stir in sour cream.

Notes:
  • This recipe can easily be doubled (or tripled) to feed a large crowd.

Variations:
  • You can easily substitute beef broth for chicken broth.  Beef gravy would be delicious drizzled over meatballs or Salisbury steak!
