Welcome!
In this post, I am sharing a simple recipe for homemade gravy. While this gravy is the perfect companion for chicken, it can also be used on vegetables, baked potatoes, tots, and even French fries!
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flout
- 1 cup low sodium chicken broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup light sour cream
Instructions:
- In a small skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over Medium heat.
- Whisk in the flour, one tablespoon at a time, until incoporated.
- Let the mixture bubble for about 2-3 minutes, until golden.
- Stir in the chicken broth a little at a time.
- Cook the mixture for 5 minuntes (or until thickened).
- Remove pan from heat.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Stir in sour cream.
Notes:
- This recipe can easily be doubled (or tripled) to feed a large crowd.
Variations:
- You can easily substitute beef broth for chicken broth. Beef gravy would be delicious drizzled over meatballs or Salisbury steak!
