Welcome!
In this post, I am sharing a recipe for homemade buttermilk ranch dressing / dip. This freshly made dressing is much tastier than store-bought versions, and it's also healthier since you can control the ingredients.
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup reduced fat sour cream
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions:
- Choose a glass bowl (that can hold up to 2 cups) or a glass jar (such as a mason jar) with a well-fitting lid.
- Add the buttermilk and sour cream to your container. Mix well.
- Add salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Cover your container with a lid and place the container in the refrigerator to let the flavors marinate for at least 1 hour.
Tips / Variations:
- Experiment with additional seasonings. Try adding 1/4 tsp of dill, paprika, or Parsley.
- Try plain Greek yogurt in place of sour cream.
Troubleshooting:
- Too thick? If you need to thin out your dressing, add a little more buttermilk.
- Too thin? If you need to thicken your dressing (to make it more like a dip), add more sour cream.
What to make with buttermilk ranch?
- Use as a salad dressing; especially if served over a Chicken Bacon Ranch Salad.
- Use as a dip for veggies, chips, chicken nuggets, fries, tots, and even taquitos!
- Use as a topping for baked potatoes.
- Use in a batch of Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadillas.
