Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

Welcome!

In this post, I am sharing a recipe for homemade buttermilk ranch dressing / dip.  This freshly made dressing is much tastier than store-bought versions, and it's also healthier since you can control the ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup reduced fat sour cream
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions:
  • Choose a glass bowl (that can hold up to 2 cups) or a glass jar (such as a mason jar) with a well-fitting lid.
  • Add the buttermilk and sour cream to your container. Mix well.
  • Add salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix well.
  • Cover your container with a lid and place the container in the refrigerator to let the flavors marinate for at least 1 hour.

Tips / Variations:
  • Experiment with additional seasonings. Try adding 1/4 tsp of dill, paprika, or Parsley.
  • Try plain Greek yogurt in place of sour cream.

Troubleshooting:
  • Too thick? If you need to thin out your dressing, add a little more buttermilk.
  • Too thin? If you need to thicken your dressing (to make it more like a dip), add more sour cream.
